Research profile
Valentina B. Lanza is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and Principal Investigator of the LiteRaS project. Her research focuses on Arabic language and linguistics, with particular attention to the material tradition of the text. She integrates philological analysis with Digital Humanities methods, developing digital editions and advancing encoding standards for right-to-left languages such as Judeo-Arabic. In this framework, she led the project JADI (funded by Sapienza University of Rome, 2021), which produced an open-access digital edition of a 15th-century Arabic Song of Songs in Hebrew script. Her work also explores the history of Oriental Studies and the Arabic grammatical tradition, especially in its interaction with Greek and Syriac scholarship.
